I worked with a pickup maker for many months to come up with an alternative to the BB Pro pickups used in my LCPG Peter Green Mod Les Paul Standard Fadeds. I love the BB Pros, and they were better than anything else I tried in Fadeds. But, I was still looking for something a little different - less edgy and "modern" sounding. With the right combination of mismatched coil outputs and weakened ALNICo V magnets, the Manalishi pickup was born! Less bright than the BB Pros, with more harmonic range and overtones, they are the perfect alternative, and are offered as an option on my LCPG guitars. Some will still want the power and bite of the BB Pros - some will want the less powerful, more mellow, vintage tone of the Manalishi. For the LCPG, either is the perfect choice - they both do the PG Mod perfectly, which is the main objective. It is just a matter of what overall tone the player is looking for. The very first buyer of an LCPG (LCPG-86) who was offered the choice between a Manalishi set and the BB Pros opted for Manalishi when hearing the head-to-head sound clips. You can hear the comparison here: LCPG-86 I also put a Manalishi set in a 2007 regular finished Les Paul Standard. Awesome! You can read the "why" and hear the results here: LCPG-146S You don't have to buy one of my LCPG guitars to own a set of these pickups. They are available separately (sets only), in a variety of bobbin colors and options, including IN PHASE! Truly, I developed these pickups with the PG tone as the most important criteria (would I do anything else?) on Standard Fadeds, but I believe these pickups have such an awesome vintage tone that folks who are not into the PG Mod, and/or don't own a Faded, may want a set also. There's nothing to lose in trying them out, because I will take them back, within 30 days of receipt, if they don't work for you. Available in double black and zebra, with optional tall pickup rings (includes aged or bright nickel vintage style ring mounting screws), and optional aged or bright high quality solid nickel covers. Manalishi are NON-POTTED, just like a vintage PAF! So, when a set is ordered with covers, I put a small strip of electrical tape across the top of the bobbins, between the pole pieces. I've heard this is supposed to reduce the potential squeal and feedback of a non-potted p'up, but I never stand in front of a cranked 100 Watt Marshall stack, so I can't say I know this works from personal experience! NOTE: Price is PER SET (both pickups). Not available individually. NECK pickup magnet polarity reversed by default ("PG Mod"). Select "In Phase" option if you do not want the "PG Mod."
